What Democrats Should Be Doing

Dear Robert Reich: Your advice is great - for the 1980s.

This is 2026 and voters are more educated and woke than ever.

Your advice to Democrats to ask voters, "Are you better off now than you were before this presidency?" is so 1980s.

That's too generic sounding and offers no solution.

Today voters want to hear very specific solutions to the very real problems we suffer in 2026.

Democrats message should be:

*We will cut bloated military spending that takes way over half the nation's budget and redirect those funds to lower the price of ESSENTIAL COMMODITES: Healthcare, Housing, Education, Gas, Groceries and Utilities.

*We will SAVE SOCIAL SECURITY from Republican cuts by RAISING THE CAP on high-income earners to fund Social Security for the next hundred years.

*We will impose high tax rates on the assets of billionaires and mega corporations.

*We will impose a moratorium on data centers, flock cameras and AI.

*We will implement Medicare-for-All to ELIMINATE RISING premiums, co-pays and deductibles voters suffer under Obamacare and Republican private insurance programs.

Democrats should be yelling at the top of their lungs, IF WE LOSE, REPUBLICANS SAID THEY WILL CUT SOCIAL SECURITY by $500 a month AND eliminate Medicare and Medicaid altogether in favor of FOR-PROFIT insurance premiums and costs.

Voters are woke now and realize that voting for dirty PAC-funded centrist Democrats will not make the change voters seek and would only keep things the same way they are now.

That's why voters are increasingly voting for progressives and social democrats who REFUSE TO TAKE DIRTY PAC MONEY and want to use the full faith and credit of the U.S. government to benefit voters instead of BIG DONORS.

Voters want gas and grocery prices down; voters are sick and tired of the rising costs of FOR-PROFIT healthcare (Obamacare) voters want economic stability.

How should Democrats address affordability?

Democrats should be promising to implement Medicare-for-All to completely eliminate the entire cost of co-pays and deductibles - but centrist Democrats OPPOSE singlepayer healthcare and insist on making their BIG DONORS happy by continuing to impose costly FOR-PROFIT healthcare.

Democrats should be tying forever wars and increased military spending to affordability.

Nearly 75% of Americans want to STOP the U.S. war crimes on Iran, withdraw from the Middle East and stop funding and arming Israel's daily genocide on Palestinians.

A majority of Americans oppose sending billions of tax dollars to Israel so Israelis can have free healthcare and education while centrist Democrats deny voters free healthcare and education.

Voters know that years ago, Senators Republican Marco Rubio and Democrat Chris Coons wrote and passed a bi-partisan bill that AUTOMATICALLY and PERMANENTLY gives Israel $3.8 billion a year from U.S. non-discretionary spending - out of the reach of current budgetary considerations and Congress.

Voters want to hear Democrats promise to audit the Pentagon, cut the forever wars budget and redirect those trillions of tax dollars to federally subsidize ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES, such as housing, healthcare, education, fuel, food and utilities.

Voters know that the price of ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES will not lower themselves but requires FEDERAL INTERVENTION.

Voters are smart enough and woke enough to realize that dirty PAC-funded politicians and greedy CEOs will never lower the price of ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES.

Voters instinctively know that voting for candidates who REFUSE dirty PAC money is preferrable to voting for incumbents and candidates who take dirty PAC money from BIG PHARMA, BIG OIL&GAS, ISRAEL AND BIG TECH.

Centrist Democrats refuse to disavow their BIG DONORS and insist on passing legislation that benefits their BIG DONORS instead of voters.

This is not 1980, 1990 or even 2004.

Voters KNOW that voting for dirty PAC-funded centrist Democrats is a dead-end move that voters cannot afford to make; thus the rise of anti-war progressives and socialist democrats who REFUSE TO TAKE DIRTY PAC MONEY.

Dirty PAC-funded, warmongering centrist Democrats will never stop taking BIG DONOR money and are hell-bent on trying to help Republicans defeat anti-war progressive and social democrats.

That's a recipe for disaster and losing to Republicans.
